Throughout my cancer journey, I started having visions and thoughts about the future so much so that I started writing about it. It eventually developed into a fictional, sci-fi, dystopian novel based on my medical trauma that is in the works… more to come on that later. 👀
But one of the things I’ve imagined and integrated into my novel is “History will be updated at the click of a button.”
As an educator, this is my waking nightmare. In the 90s, the “Information Monopoly” was a slow-moving beast. Robert Maxwell had to buy the printing presses, merge the companies, and ship the physical books to the docks in Dubuque, where my own dad worked. It took YEARS to shift the narrative.
But today? The guardrails are gone.
The New Digital “Nightmare”
We are watching history play out in real-time; scandals, trials, and the gut-wrenching pain of survivors… yet we are simultaneously watching the “billionaire class” position themselves to write the digital footnotes.
- The Living Nightmare: When justice feels like it’s being traded for political or corporate favor (like we see with names like Pam Bondi or the Maxwell/Epstein fallout), the survivors aren’t the only ones losing. Our children’s future understanding of “truth” is at stake.
- The Click of a Button: In a world of digital-only textbooks, the truth doesn’t just get buried, it gets deleted. A billionaire-controlled board can edit a digital file in seconds, and suddenly, the “official” history has changed before the next school bell rings.
Why “Home-Centered” Education is the Only Shield
This is exactly why educating our children at home, free from government bias and corporate “updates” is no longer just a choice; it’s a necessity. This doesn’t mean you need to homeschool, my kids love the social aspect and leadership roles traditional school offers. But providing that ‘at home debrief’ and alternative resources will set the next gen up for success.
- Government Bias: Public curriculum is often just a reflection of the current administration’s “brand.”
- Corporate Control: If the textbook giants are beholden to the billionaire class, they aren’t teaching your children how to think; they are teaching them what to believe.
Mark my words: If we don’t own the physical sources; the primary documents, the old books, the real accounts – we won’t own the TRUTH!
We have to be the gatekeepers of our children’s minds. 👁
